There are several ways that you can help to control and reduce pest problems utilizing Integrated Pest Management. Think like a bug! Understanding a few basics about insect’s needs and behavior helps to control unwanted populations. Actually, insects have the same basic needs as humans do: food, water and shelter.

Eliminating what insects need to survive can help create a pest-free environment in and around structures. We have created the following checklist as a tool you can use for controlling insects with little or no impact on the environment.

Apply this checklist to your property to reduce pests:

• Divert all water away from structure
• Eliminate any standing water
• Trim back bushes in landscaping and trees from areas around the home or structure
• Keep all pet food in seal-tight containers
• Place bird feeders at least 100 feet from the house
• Seal up all potential access areas around the home or structure
• Avoid stacking firewood directly on the ground and next to the home or structure
• Keep trash cans closed tightly
