Go Green With The Bug Blaster Inc!
by Caitlin Gillum
Today we all want to do our part to protect the environment. This included looking at how the “green” movement can be applied to controlling unwanted pests. While most of us are familiar with the process of calling in a professional when we have unwanted pests living amongst us, most of us have not considered what our part is to prevent them from moving-in in the first place.
This is where the concept of Green Pest Control starts. Within the pest management industry this process is referred to as Green Pest Management (GPM). GPM extends way beyond how to control pests. When a pest control company states it uses GPM, they should follow the guidelines below:
- Conserve energy in the office
- Practice recycling and efficient waste management
- Utilize efficient vehicle routing to reduce fuel usage
- Make every possible effort to reduce environmental pollution
When it comes to providing services, GPM companies will encourage non-chemical steps to the management of a pest problem as a critical part of the process. This is often referred to as Integrated Pest Management.
There are several ways that you can help to control and reduce pest problems utilizing Integrated Pest Management. Think like a bug! Understanding a few basics about insect’s needs and behavior helps to control unwanted populations. Actually, insects have the same basic needs as humans do: food, water and shelter. Eliminating what insects need to survive can help create a pest-free environment in and around structures.
For advice or assistance in controlling pest problems, a pest management professional can be very valuable. Certain pest such as bedbugs, cockroaches, rodents and others are better left to a professional, as extensive knowledge, training and special equipment are often required to eradicate them. Please contact The Bug Blaster to find out how we can work together to provide effective GPM/Integrated Pest Management solutions for your home or business.
